A caring gesture

Gifts at care homeA Valentine's Day visit to a care home in St Austell was organised by Beth, aged 15.

Beth tells the story:

"On Friday 14th February, 6th St Austell Guides and 2nd Polkyth Senior Section visited Caprera care home in St Austell. We presented to the residents: roses, chocolates, biscuits, cards, plants, perfume and books. Two of the Guides, Evie and Joanne, also make a cake and some cookies. Most of the donations were given to us by local businesses in our community and my friends. We wanted to show that the residents are still loved on this special day. We were given a tour around the home by the head of care there and were asked to help decorate the room in which they were having their Valentine’s tea party in later on that day. We were all pleased to see a smile on the resident's faces and lots of happy tears. The random act of kindness was definitely worth arranging to get this reaction from the residents in the care home. We are looking forward to doing more community action work for them this year."

Giving a gift

As Leader I would like to add that Beth thought of the idea herself and organised the whole event, including asking the businesses in St Austell, who were very supportive.
