Over 80 Leaders attended the County Training Day on Saturday, which took place at Penair School in Truro. The theme of the day was 'an alpine adventure', but although no-one climbed a mountain there was evidence of chocolate fondue, and also (though not literally) skiing and snowmen! Leaders new and experienced took part in sessions on a variety of topics, and had fun in the process. In the afternoon there were sessions on running an exciting programme in their Units, but in the morning they had a choice from topics including games, science activities for any age group, getting the Unit out and about, water safety, A Safe Space (our child protection guidelines), and activities from our Cornwall Heritage packs.
As well as the adult Leaders there were quite a number of Young Leaders there, having at least as much fun as anyone else!
As well as all that there were displays in the hall set up by many of the County Advisers, a market place for resources etc, and the chance to buy or order badges.
At the end of the day everyone came together to round off a busy day, and finished with some songs on the theme of the day, creating a laugh to take home with them. The chatter going on throughout the day was a guide to how much people were enjoying it, not least by catching up with old friends from other parts of the County - and making new ones.
Our thanks go to all the trainers, who had put a lot of work into producing sessions which were interesting, useful - and fun.
