On 25th March 1958 6th Launceston Brownies were officially registered as a Brownie unit at Headquarters. So on the nearest Brownie meeting, 23rd March 2023, the current Brownies held a celebration evening.
We made marmalade sandwiches for Paddington Bear, wrote letters/poems or drew pictures to Blue Peter who also celebrated 65 years, we also made paper plate Frisbees and rockets powered by straws, which represented events around the time and had great fun working out whose went the furthest.
We also looked at old pictures of the unit and managed to find Brown Owl (Melinda Hawke) and Snowy Owl (Jodie Ivey) from when she was a Brownie with the unit and a few other familiar faces. As well as looking for badges on a camp blanket.
We finished the evening by singing happy birthday to the unit and of course cake!
