If any Guides, Rangers or Young Leaders (14-24) wish to undertake their Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Awards they are able to do this through Girlguiding.
There have been several relaxations of DofE rules (due to Covid) to enable participants to continue with their award sections and activities.
If they have recently left school or college and were unable to complete their award they can transfer their existing registration to the Girlguiding DofE Operating Authority. Once they have transferred we can work with them to sort out any missing reports or sections. There are many ideas how to continue with activities which are home based or local if your school or club have currently closed their provision.
One of the main areas the Covid restrictions has affected is the expeditions, but they can still currently be done without the overnight camps via day walks. When restrictions on groups numbers allow, we will be able to offer expeditions and training this summer.
The costs currently are:
Bronze Award - £22 - age 14 (but able to start at age 13 if turning 14 in the academic year)
Silver Award - £22 - age 15 (able to start earlier if bronze has been completed)
Gold Award - £31 - To do gold you have to be a minimum aged 16 years
If you know of anyone who would like to start a new award, would like to transfer to Girlgiding, would like to enquire about expeditions or have any questions about DofE please contact Karin, County DofE adviser, by emailing dofe@girlguidingcornwall.org.uk
