Congratulations to Cathy Woodman of Gribbin #Trefoil on receiving the Cross of St Piran from #BishopPhilip. This special award from the #DioceseofTruro was presented to Cathy because of her understanding of community. Following the sudden death of her husband, Cathy offered help to her local community, to help her and her young family find a new sense of normality. Her sadness led her to join a home group at the local church, where she felt loved and part of a big family. Cathy has also spent many years volunteering at #STAK, supporting the vulnerable, needy and homeless in St Austell, where she is part of a team who provide hot food and a chance to chat. Cathy also helps to support the work of #StPetroc’s who have developed some halfway houses in St Austell. Helping is something Cathy enjoys and has always done. “I trained and worked as a nurse, so I suppose it’s just something in me, although I prefer to be behind the scenes. I believe you show people God’s love by being kind, leading by example”. Cathy understands community because she is interested in people - she helped to get the local carnival back up and running and she also ran #Brownies for many years. On receiving the Cross of St Piran Cathy said, "I feel so honoured. It’s a real privilege and I’m very grateful."
Well done Cathy!
